Set up your payments to draft from a checking account. The fees can be less than charging a credit or debit card, AND if your credit card expires or your card is compromised and has to be replaced, you don't risk your policy canceling because the ACH payment could not be drafted. It also eliminates the need to call every vendor who is using that card to inform them of its replacement.
In certain situations making payments using a credit card generates higher merchant fees which are more frequently passed along to you, the consumer, to cover the processing costs involved.
Often times an insurance company will offer you a Paid-In-Full discount. Be sure to inquire!
In this hard insurance marketplace we find ourselves in, when your renewal arrives and if you see a stronger than average premium increase, don't hesitate to contact your agent and ask if they have another insurer they could quote for you.
